Metal chain belt conveyors or “Piano Hinge” conveyors as some call them can carry a variety of parts that normal PVC and plastic moulded belt systems can not. This can be due to temperature, where the part to be conveyed is too hot for plastic and PVC based belt materials, and also where there are sharp edges. These metal belt conveyors can also carry much heavier weighs than belts generally. Additionally, flights can be welded onto the flat belt slats to help the products climb inclines. Dorner 2200 series UL approval

Dorner’s 2200 Series low profile belt conveyor platform has received the Ultraclean Products Approval Laboratory certification for use in ISO Standard 14664-1 Class 5, and Federal Standard 209 Class 100 rated cleanrooms. This means that 2200 Series conveyors will not contribute to the contamination of cleanrooms conforming to those standards.

Cleanrooms and other controlled environments provide for the management of airborne particulate contamination to appropriate levels for accomplishing contamination-sensitive activities. Industries that regularly use cleanrooms in their manufacturing processes include aerospace, pharmaceuticals, food and healthcare.

The 2200 Series is a modular conveyor platform that’s ideally suited to operate in cleanroom environments. Flexibility is often a requirement for cleanroom equipment; the 2200 Series’ low 1.25″ profile allows it to fit in extremely tight places, giving customers flexibility to adjust to changing cleanroom applications. It’s not like other conveyors in our range and utilises a 24Volt DC motor and with integrated speed control and reverse, it’s ready to go out of the box. Our aim to become the best t-slotted aluminium profile supplies to the UK market has meant that we need to increase our stock levels – again. Along with the pending new catalogue, it’s a challenge, but demand cointinues to increase so it has to be done to maintain service levels. Flexible conveyors – Roller choice

We know that our flexible conveyors range offers a lot of options to the customer but more and more, we are getting requests from users who want to specify plastic rollers. While that’s certainly OK by us, there are some points to bear in mind when specifying roller types.
1. The temperature of the product to be conveyed.
2. The weight of the products
3. Does the product have any sharp edges?
4. Based on roller width, are plastic rollers really suitable.
Steel rollers are not more expensive than plastic generally. Yes they are heavier, but think carefully before opting for plastic rollers. If in doubt, give us a call.

Flexible conveyors with flexible height
